Goal

Assuming you qualify, compare your final score (using the standard scoring rules) against a chart to see how skillful you are.

Final score:

To qualify:

• You must get all 5 of your trains off the board
• You must get at least 1 of each of the 5 company stocks (though, you may sell any or all of the stock by the end of the game)
• You must have placed all 20 opponent trains on the board

Setup

• Follow the setup rules for 2 players with the following exceptions:
• Start the game with 2 coal and 1 whistle
• On the round track, just place enough coal and whistle tokens for 1 player
• Set aside the 20 unused trains of the four other player colors
• Deal out 3 upgrades, but don’t use Toll Station, Blocking Signal or Poison Pill 
• The face-up tile draw pile should be 4 tiles, instead of 3
• Freely place your starting 5 trains on any of the 16 starting spots

Main Game Play

Follow the normal rules of the game with one big exception.  Whenever you spend a coal or a whistle to move or use an upgrade, you must do one of the following special actions:

• Place an opposing train on the board:  Choose one of the remaining unused trains you set aside previously and place it on any open small stop (not a starting spot) anywhere on the board with one exception: only one of each opposing train color is allowed in each column on the board. For example, if green is an opposing train color, a given column could have no more than 1 green train in it.
• Discard two tiles from the face-up tile draw pile:  The face-up draw tiles are not refreshed until the end of the round after you have drawn any replacement tiles into your hand.  If there is only 1 tile left in the face-up draw tiles, then this action cannot be performed and a different special action must be chosen instead.
• Give the lowest numbered-stock from the supply to the game AI: If there are multiple stocks of the same lowest number then you can choose any of them to give to the game AI. The game AI competes on stocks with you at the end of the game.
